The Tatra Mountains – Jasná Day 2

Nízke Tatry, Slovensko

The second day of skiing greeted us with significantly nicer weather and snow than the day before.

After a couple of quick slopes on the shady north side where our hotel was situated, my classmate Natália and myself decided to head up to the summit and ski on the other side of the mountain.

Despite strong winds I took the opportunity to fly my drone and capture the view.

Natália and I launching the drone and seeing it off
The beauty of the Lower Tatras was immediately captivating
A panoramic view towards the south of Chopok, the centre mountain of the skiing area
The lift going straight up to the peak
Me flying the drone from the woods

Later I flew the drone for a second time, this time for capturing two other mates when going down a powder hill.

I also took the chance to snap some quick shots of the scenery and – of course – myself.

After some great descents I decided I wanted to capture the beauty of the peak in the last sunlight.

Winds were consistently over 30 km/h, so flying went about as good as you would expect: droni gave me a heavy wind warnings immediately after takeoff and worked hard to take on the airflow on the mountain top.

The circumstances allowed me to take exactly one picture, this one:

The picture of Chopok, Slovakia taken in heavy winds

However, the surroundings were just as nice so I took some pics with my phone after emergency landing the drone.

After a fast descent down a completely iced-out slope, the skiing was over.

However, just because we finished skiing does not mean the day was over, so I treated myself to a nice steak tartare before joining the second party of the trip…

Ahoj!
