Zürich, Schweiz

July was the first month of my internship in Zurich. As I had never been to that city before, of course I wanted to explore the town and all of Switzerland in the weeks. As I was quite busy the first weeks at work, having two friends I know from my exchange term in Prague visit was a welcome chance to explore the city and surroundings in company.
I had a perfect start into the weekend with a Milano-Torino at my Italian bar of choice, La Stanza. Along with it I ordered a nicely toasted panino with olives and prosciutto crudo.
After walking through town for a while I came past Quaibrücke, the bridge where the Zürichsee flows into the Limmat river. As you can tell, it offered a beautiful panorama of the well-lit riverfront.

Saturday 16 July was the day my friends Monika and David arrived in Zurich. They had chosen to spend the weekend there so it was a lovely chance to meet up again a few months after our semester in Prague.
We met at Milchbar, a quality café secluded in an enclosed courtyard in the heart of town. After catching up and discussing life – and prices – in Zurich, we chose to do a little sightseeing by foot.
After walking around for a while we had dinner at Zeughauskeller, a typical Swiss restaurant located at Bahnhofstrasse. We enjoyed the food with dishes closely related to Austrian and German ones, only with Swiss prices. Then slowly but surely the sun set.
What I really enjoy about Zurich is the proximity to water. There are numerous canals and river parts flowing through the city, offering some additional tranquility to the already calm city. The Zürisee moreover acts as a meeting place and central eye-catcher with its long, well-lit shoreline and accompanying restaurants, bars and harbours.
We walked along the western side of the lake until reaching Hafen Enge, the harbour with the beautiful (and nicely lit) Aquaretum fountain, where we enjoyed the rest of the evening.

On Sunday we set out to visit Uetliberg, the hill throning over the city. We took the train from central station to Uetliberg train station from which it was not far to the top.
Once on top of the hill we had a beer and then climbed the Aussichtsturm Uetliberg,
Of course we also took a selfie up there, serving as a neat reminder of the common exploration of Zurich and its surroundings.
Ade!
