Saturday, the last day of our short trip, had arrived and it was time to head home. With phones full of pictures, heads full of memories and a car full of wine we headed northbound.

As you may recall, in November of last year we went for a quick wine trip. This time around the cantina whose name shall still remain unnamed was perfectly on our way home. So naturally we had to stop.

Because of the place being rather unknown and us being excited repeat customers, we were warmly greeted and invited into a small hut next to the vineyard for a tasting. As opposed to the many more-renown wineries we had visited the days prior, this one was truly authentic with quality that convinced.

The owner’s son & his friend offered us some affettati, cheese & bread along with a variety of red wines. It was really relaxing to just sit back, chat, and enjoy some food and wine before having to turn home. We moreover got two canisters of great olive oil.

Relaxing with a glass of wine & overlooking the vineyards

Upon arriving home we headed to our favourite restaurant in the countryside behind Lazise. It is extraordinary for the quality of ingredients and freshness of meat & homemade pasta. I am quite certain that the Italian cuisine is as perfect as it gets.

The next day we went to a restaurant in the countryside for the first time in many years. And I have to say it was a wonderful re-discovery. While being quite empty due to its remoteness, the place convinced us with the incredible food and especially the high-quality old wines. Especially the 1997 Masi was an epiphany.

On Easter Monday it was time for me to fly back to Prague to continue my exchange term and start into exam season.

Ciao!
