A quick trip home

PRAHA, ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA

21/02/2022 – 26/02/2022

Any good week should start with a relaxed Monday. Fortunately, ‘Miners‘, my overpriced coffee shop of choice near uni, has some tasty cheesecake that made the start of the week a pleasure.

The day after – Tuesday – I made the spontaneous decision to visit Vienna and see my girlfriend. So without further ado I got in my car and drove over.

Wednesday I spent in Vienna. That day we made brownies, and good ones I must say, although it makes me shiver just knowing how much sugar we put into them. Not to imagine what big bakery chains and commercial producers put into such products.

Later on Wednesday evening I got in the car to drive back to Prague. I must say I am really glad that after many years without I finally have xenon lights.

Two days later, me and colleagues from uni had lunch together. We went to Automat, the self-service restaurant on the ground floor of the recently built Deloitte building that stands between VSE and a clear view over the city. The beer was rather cheap for European standards (2€) – although expensive for Czech standards – and I had meat and some vegetables along with it.

Later that day many of us joined a pub crawl of the cohort, it started at ‘Lokal’, a typical Czech restaurant with cheap beer and continued to some more upmarket bars.

The day after, I went to Vienna once more to spend some quality time with my girlfriend for a perfect end of the week. You would not believe it, but I actually encountered a cyclist on the highway near Brno.

Once in Vienna, Nasti and I went for some sushi at KitchA Wollzeile, Vienna and admired the chef preparing the rolls with incredible speed.

The dinner was followed by wonderful drinks at our favourite bar.

On our way to the bar we walked past Volkstheater, which as you can see was nicely lit that night (I think it is nicely lit all nights actually).

As we were still a little hungry (and knew how tasty Flammkuchen are), we decided to order one with ham, parmesan & truffles. It was delicious beyond words!

Having eaten, enjoyed some cocktails and talked for hours this concluded the night – but not the weekend, as my next stop would be Saalbach for a couple of more skiing days.

Servus & Ahoj!
